The Next Generation Plumbers

Last year (2013) the plumbing and heating industry experienced a reduction in the number of young apprentice plumbers and heating engineers coming through from schools and colleges. This could have been caused by numerous factors such as the stigma of apprenticeships, loss of confidence in the plumbing industry, lack of support, lack of information and/or lack of promotion.

We believe an apprenticeship is a great industry to get involved with especially with advances in sustainable energy resources such as biomass boilers. The plumbing and heating industry has and still is a very strong and sustainable industry in the UK. We believe it would be a great platform for any youngster looking for a long term career.

We have spoken with numerous groups of plumbers, heating engineers and boiler experts across the UK including plumbers in Birmingham, plumbers in Manchester and plumbers in London. We have the support of a small group of London Plumbers, Boiler Breakdowns. They support our notion of promoting plumbing apprenticeships and continuing to direct highly skilled youngsters into the plumbing industry.
